We are looking for a Senior Biosecurity Officer to join our high-performance team at Biosecurity QLD – Animal Biosecurity and Welfare Operational team.
Responsibilities
Addressing issues of high biosecurity risk/complexity and/or requiring a level of specialist technical capability
Gathering evidence to assist investigations of potential legislative breaches (e.g., field observations, sample collection, witness statements/interviews)
Undertaking compliance activities under Queensland legislation: Animal Care and Protection Act **** and the Biosecurity Act ****
Having thorough knowledge and skills relating to administration and compliance with relevant legislation and associated internal procedures and systems (e.g., exercise of powers, auditing, investigation, conducting interviews, collecting evidence and witness statement, preparing court briefs, use of BQ Case Management)
Being a participant and contributing to disease surveillance and emergency response activities, which may include collection of samples from live and deceased animals
