Overview
The role anchors the embedding of a Workplace Health, Safety & Environment (WHSE) framework for Hayman Island, aligning with IHG and Mulpha WHSE strategy. It involves creating a proactive safety culture in collaboration with the security team and interfacing with the island's senior operational leadership and HR to foster ownership of WHSE in line with Queensland legislation and WorkSafe Queensland.
You will lead and promote a strong WHSE culture across the resort, ensuring compliance, safety, and colleague wellbeing. The role includes delivering training, managing risk and incident processes, and supporting return-to-work programs, while working with leadership to develop and implement WHS strategies and systems. Through engagement with teams, you will drive continuous improvement, accountability, and a safe, high-performing workplace environment.
In partnership with the Training Manager, build a comprehensive WHSE education platform into the on-boarding program that establishes a strong WHS framework from day one.
Responsibilities
* Lead and promote WHSE culture across the resort, ensuring compliance and colleague wellbeing.
* Deliver WHSE training, manage risk and incident processes, and support return-to-work programs.
* Collaborate with senior leadership, HR, and security to embed WHSE strategies and systems.
* Develop and implement WHS strategies in alignment with Queensland legislation and WorkSafe Queensland.
* Foster accountability and drive continuous improvement through engagement with teams.
* Partner with the Training Manager to integrate WHSE education into on-boarding.
Qualifications
* Formal WHS qualifications or equivalent experience, minimum 3 years in a similar role.
* Demonstrated commercial acumen and application of WHS Act & Regulations.
* Experience in change management and collaboration in a shared business model.
* Prior work experience in remote island or isolated environments is advantageous.
* Strong influencing, consultative, and writing skills.
* Experience managing return-to-work and WorkCover claims.
* Experience conducting investigations.
