The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking a motivated, professional and suitably qualified individual to join our team as an HV/LV Electrician within the Indian Ocean Territories Power Service (IOTPS) based on Christmas Island. About the Role
As an HV/LV Electrician you will be responsible for:
* Constructing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing underground high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical distribution equipment;
* Maintaining, servicing and repairing power station generation and auxiliary equipment;
* Carry out fault response call outs, including electric shock investigations;
* Maintaining maintenance and inspection records in paper and computerised formats;
* Maintaining a safe working environment at all times;
* On a lifestyle friendly schedule (Monday – Friday) with shared on-call requirements.
About You
To be considered, applicants must:
* Hold a WA Unrestricted Electrical Worker’s Licence at time of commencement.
o Applicants with Interstate or New Zealand Electrical Licences which are eligible for mutual recognition in Western Australia are welcome to apply.
* Hold a current ‘C’ class Driver’s Licence transferable to the Territories.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* demonstrated experience performing a range of electrical work applicable to the position;
* demonstrated experience in completing written records of maintenance, testing and inspection;
* demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety regulations, codes and specifications, specific to Electricity Supply Networks;
* experience in the application of safe work behaviours;
* demonstrated experience working on an electricity supply network or high voltage installation; and
* experience living and working in a remote cross-cultural setting will be well regarded.
Further, the following qualifications and skillsets would be advantageous:
* HV switching, LV rescue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
* MR Drivers Licence
* Working at heights
* EWP Licence
* Forklift Licence
* Cert III in ESI – Distribution Underground, Cert III in ESI – Distribution Overhead or relevant HV cable jointing units.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment assessment and satisfy a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

* Base salary of up to $116,780 per annum*, with penalty rates on overtime, plus
* Employer contribution to superannuation at 16% of base salary, plus

* Relocation assistance if relocating to the Indian Ocean Territories, plus
* Annual return airfares assistance to Perth for you and eligible dependents, plus

*Base salary of up to $121,451 at the commencement of the Indian Ocean Territories (Administration) Enterprise Agreement 2026.
