About the role
We are looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented Database and Systems Administrator who also has management and leadership skills to help with our newly developing inhouse security guard employee management software system and its other integrated software's. This is a long-term role which will focus on obtaining, using and analyzing data and systems with continuous improvement and workflows.
The main goal is to ensure that the databases are up-to-date, the systems are quality assured with real time and accurate data and in perfect working condition. To achieve this, clear communication with employees, offshore developer sub-contractors, clients, vendors and the leadership team is essential. Quick response to employee scheduling, HR policies, time and GPS tracking, reports, and timely error correction are also essential for this role.
This role is based in Unit 1/11-15 Rocklea Dr, Port Melbourne VIC 3207
Key Responsibilities
· Data Extraction & Analysis: Extract, clean and format the data to turn into usable data.
· Design, implement, and maintain scalable Cockroach database structures that support real-time employee rostering, time tracking, GPS monitoring within our in-house security and workforce management platform which is programmed using .Net, C# technologies
· Ensure high availability and reliability of database systems that track employee presence, check-ins/outs, and activity logs—particularly when employees are deployed at client sites and working on client systems.
· Maintain secure data flows and API integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms such as MYOB, ensuring confidentiality of client and employee data at all times.
· Implement and oversee alarm and alerting mechanisms triggered by anomalies, disputes, or time-tracking discrepancies; coordinate closely with operational teams to ensure timely escalation and resolution.
· Create, document, and enforce security protocols, database access controls, and access policies, particularly in high-trust environments involving sensitive client interactions.
· Lead the development and testing of disaster recovery and incident response plans, ensuring business continuity across all database-driven services, including those deployed on Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
· Proactively monitor database and system health; troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across cloud and hybrid deployments, ensuring uptime for systems and the mobile app.
· Manage and automate backups, patching, and updates, maintaining a secure and compliant environment in line with operational SLAs
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including security vendors, offshore software developers (Sri Lanka), and field operations leads—to enhance workforce tracking, audit trails, and dispute management processes.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation and operational logs, with a focus on traceability for compliance, client reporting, and incident resolution.
· Assess and plan for future infrastructure scalability, ensuring systems can accommodate growing numbers of employees, clients, and integration endpoints.
Skills & Qualifications:
* 3-6 years hand on experience in Database, Systems, Applications administration.
* Experience with Cockroach DB and programming knowledge on .Net, C# technologies is appreciated.
* Managing High Availability databases, database backups and disaster recovery, database performance and optimization.
* Know how to analyze large and complex datasets and extracting actionable insights.
* Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, MS Azure cloud servers.
* Worked with offshore development teams with clear, concise communication skills with all parties and the ability to lead with direction.
* Appreciation for the value of accuracy and completeness of data, SLA's and upgrading technologies.
