About the role
We're seeking a dynamic Facility Manager for the Advanced Prototype Packaging Facility (APPF) to oversee the overall function and operation of the facility — a hub of innovation and technical excellence — across its two nodes at UTS and University of Sydney, including driving the installation and commissioning of the new cleanroom which is to house the UTS node. In this pivotal role, you'll provide technical and operational leadership, of the technical collaboration between the APPF's two nodes, to deliver the facility's vision and ensure seamless integration of policy, planning, and performance.
This new position offers you an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in setting up a new sovereign manufacturing capability from the ground up. From driving high-impact projects to overseeing business systems and compliance, you'll play a central role in translating technology concepts into real-world applications. You'll lead a skilled team collaborating across two institutions, optimise resources, and ensure a safe, efficient, and forward-thinking workplace, all while aligning with the University's broader objectives.
About You
We're looking for a forward-thinking leader with strong scientific and technical acumen, a proven track record in safety and compliance, and solid financial management skills to guide the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our cutting-edge facility:
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in industry
* Experience in an appropriate discipline or technology area involving cleanroom micro- or nano-fabrication, or semiconductor or photonics manufacturing
* Experience in relevant positions within commercial R&D or the university sector, including relevant hands-on engineering/technology experience
* Industry and technology translation experience in relevant areas of advanced semiconductor or photonics manufacturing strongly preferred
What We Offer
Base Salary Range: $140,965 - $147,678 (HEW 9) plus 17% superannuation.
This is a full-time position, and will be offered on a 2-year fixed term basis.
