Overview
The Workforce Supply, Mobility and Reform team is dedicated to showcasing the Department of Education as an employer of choice for teachers across Western Australia, Australia and the world. We play a key role in attracting and supporting talented educators by representing the Department at career expos, university events, and through online webinars. We also collaborate with the Communications team to shape and maintain the Department of Education careers website, along with developing engaging promotional materials that highlight the opportunities and impact of teaching in WA. Our team leads a number of important workforce initiatives, including:
- Recruiting high-quality teachers from interstate and overseas;
- Promoting the Department as a diverse and rewarding place to build a career in education;
- Managing the Leap program, which helps retrain teachers into specialist areas of need;
- Operating the Teach in WA Customer Service Centre, a one-stop hub supporting prospective and current teachers with information on employment eligibility, recognition of service, and qualification assessments.

The Role
Customer Service Officers (CSOs) in the Attraction and Retention team support initiatives that bring great teachers to classrooms across Western Australia. They play a key role in the delivery of administrative and customer service functions that ensure a seamless experience for prospective and current educators.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-level administrative support for staff attraction and retention programs, including maintaining databases, managing correspondence, and preparing key resources.
- Respond to enquiries from applicants, employees, principals, and other stakeholders with accurate, timely advice on employment matters such as eligibility, salaries, and benefits.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support recruitment and workforce initiatives.
- Assess teacher eligibility, qualifications, and prior service to determine commencement salaries or entry into Department programs.
- Coordinate administrative systems to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
- Gather and analyse enquiry data to support continuous improvement and inform future service planning.
- Assist in the preparation of ministerials, briefing notes, reports, and official correspondence to support the broader team.

Eligibility
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
