What this opportunity involves
JLL is the global property service provider for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The portfolio comprises approximately 1,000 properties (both owned and leased), across 100+ countries and includes Chanceries/Embassies and Residential properties.
This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of property management and government finance, where your analytical expertise will directly influence strategic decision-making and project outcomes. You will be measured on your ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights while building strong stakeholder relationships across the DFAT portfolio.
This is a permanent full-time role to be based on-site in Canberra.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Coordinate and prepare comprehensive project management cost reporting and internal capital project budgets in compliance with Government requirements
Execute month-end procedures including journal entries, accruals, forecasting, cost allocations, and recoveries while meeting strict deadlines
Deliver periodic financial KPI reporting across the portfolio with detailed commentary and analysis
Strategic Financial Support
Provide financial expertise for strategic analysis, options assessments, and business case development
Support procurement processes including RFT preparation, tender evaluations, contract finalization, and financial analysis for consultants, contractors, and suppliers
Manage cash flow operations and foreign exchange requirements
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to Government funding and procurement protocols including Commonwealth Procurement Rules, PGPA Act, and Commonwealth Property Management Framework
Support internal, external, and client's audit requirements
Maintain compliance with WH&S Act requirements
Key Skills & Requirements
An Australian Citizen in order to comply with our Client's requirement to obtain and gain at least a NV1 clearance
At least 3+ years post-qualification experience (CA or CPA)
Demonstrated experience in Asset and Construction / Project accounting and government capital expenditure processes
Working knowledge of a property management in some or all of the following areas: leasing, project scoping, valuation, and asset management.
Strong Excel proficiency including financial modeling, analysis and reporting capabilities (including commentary)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing diverse client representatives and JLL stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex deliverables with competing timeline
Strong attention to detail with strategic thinking abilities with capacity to solve complex problems and work with ambiguity
