Our client is looking for a Senior (seasoned) Mechanical Engineer who can embrace the above process. A person with drive, skills and knowledge to manage product development from conception to production (with the focus being your engineering and design ability).
The role will lead existing and new product development in a business that specialises in the supply of medical products and equipment with product development focused on chairs, beds and couches with with mechanical functions that offer greater support and flexibility to the user and to the carers.
Day to Day Tasks
* engage and coordinate with external designers and fabricators to produce prototypes through to production
* source components and negotiate with suppliers
* design components like mechanical linkage systems
* conduct engineering tests to product performance
* confirm Australian Standards Compliance and meet other safety requirements
* prepare documents and reports
* support the sales with technical knowledge
Required Knowledge
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo)
* Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
* Experience with FEA tools a plus
* Knowledge of manufacturing methods, sourcing, and materials
* Excellent communication and supplier relationship management abilities
Preferred Experience
* 3+ years in mechanical design or product development
* Proven experience managing suppliers and outsourced manufacturing
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or DFX practices
