About the Role
Chandler Macleod is seeking experienced Lawyers to join our client based in Canberra on a 12-month contract. These roles involve delivering high-quality legal services in a government regulatory environment and contributing to the effective management of complex legal matters.
You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and practical legal advice across a range of areas, as well as preparing submissions, drafting agreements, supporting policy development, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality legal advice on complex matters, including administrative law, commercial law, employment law, and litigation management.
Prepare submissions and recommendations to senior executives regarding statutory functions and decision-making.
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of legal policy and regulatory proposals.
Supervise and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks.
Manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
About You
To be successful, you will bring :
A law degree and admission as a legal practitioner in a Supreme Court of a State or Territory.
Demonstrated experience providing and managing legal advice in one or more of the following practice areas :
Administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy)
Commercial law
Employment law
Litigation in a government regulatory environment
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
Proven ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
Experience mentoring junior lawyers.
