Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading global financial services institution in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire someone at the 2-4 PQE level, to be based in their Sydney office.
We're seeking a proactive and motivated financial services lawyer to support a dynamic and stable legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of custody, clearing, settlement and managed fund legal matters within a highly regarded international banking group. The senior lawyer is a leader in the space and is brilliant to deal with.

About the Role
* Lead and support the negotiation and establishment of client agreements, including new mandates and variations to existing arrangements, working closely with sales and relationship teams.
* Provide legal and regulatory advice on new products and services, proactively identifying legal risk and anticipating regulatory change across Australia and New Zealand.
* Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of client and service provider contracts, amendments and standard form documentation.
* Draft legal DISCLAIMERS, advise on incidents and claims, and support the business in managing disputes and regulatory issues.
* Maintain and update standard legal documentation in line with local regulatory requirements and global policy settings.
* Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments, assisting with impact assessments and implementation across the business.
What type of person will be successful?
* Admitted as a lawyer in Australia or New Zealand, with a current practising certificate.
* Practising as a financial services, banking or regulatory lawyer for 2-4 years in private practice or in-house (experience at a top-tier firm or financial institution preferred).
* Strong understanding of Australian and/or New Zealand financial services law, with exposure to banking, securities services or managed funds.
* Commercially astute with the ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgement.
* Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
* Collaborative, adaptable and confident working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
