Are you the support worker Dan is looking for?
Mandurah area – no experience or formal training required.
Hi I'm Dan. I'm 33 and live in my own place in Mandurah. I have a great love of life and enjoy joking around, being active, nature, bike riding, swimming and bird watching. I'm interested in politics and music, especially stringed instruments. I'm very sociable. I work in a variety of roles, including a paid position at a university.
I also have a disability. I use a communication book to talk, and a wheelchair to get around.
I am looking for a supporter who sees me as a person first, with full potential – if you can do that, then full training to support me will be provided.
On any given day I may need you to be:
* A mentor - sharing your life experience and guidance with me. You'll be a story teller, sharing examples I can relate to.
•
* A teacher - identifying how I learn things and embedding learning in my day in ways that are motivating and meaningful to me.
* A coach - supporting me to set my goals and engaging with the physical and social environments I'm in to set me up for success.
* A supporter - giving me the practical support I need every day, with a view to increasing my ability to do things for myself.
If you are the person I am looking for, you'll be:
* Energetic and up for doing activities with me
* Interested in people and skilled in getting involved in community activities and building connections
* Curious and interested in learning new things
* Reliable and consistent – because I have a disability, I need supporters who are able to turn up for work consistently
This is a casual position ranging from $36.50 to $55 an hour. Overnight work also available.
