We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Jandowae, QLD. Our client is a well-respected, family-owned agricultural equipment manufacturer with over 115 years of industry experience. They specialise in high-quality cattle handling equipment and hold an estimated 80% share of the Australian market.
Currently undergoing an exciting growth phase, the business is expanding its production capacity with new facilities and robotics, preparing for an international market expansion. With a family-oriented, collaborative team culture, they offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of livestock equipment manufacturing in Australia and abroad.
The Role
This newly created, hands-on position plays a pivotal role in bringing engineering functions in-house. As the sole Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate across workshop, leadership, and sales teams to accelerate product development, redesign equipment for robotic welding, and prepare for ERP system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, test, and update 2D/3D models using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Lead new product development across cattle crushes, feeders, yard systems, and ramps
- Redesign products for robotic welding compatibility
- Create BOMs, technical manuals, work instructions, and other customer packages
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree with 3+ years post-graduate experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (2D & 3D)
- Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Ability to develop technical drawings, BOMs, and manuals
- High attention to detail and commitment to engineering integrity
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Benefits:
* $120,000 – $150,000 + Super (negotiable)
* Laptop and required software provided
* Monday to Friday roster (7am - 3:30/4:30pm)
* Early Friday finishes (Midday)
* Hybrid work model (minimum 2–3 days on-site per fortnight)
* Accommodation available for site visits
