You will be part of a wider team covering Motor and Heavy Machinery. This role focuses specifically on risks related to Mobile Plant & Equipment from brokers nationwide. Your role is within the Mobile Plant & Equipment team and is open to candidates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

What the day will look like
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mobile Plant & Equipment Underwriter to join our dynamic underwriting team. In this role, you will assess, price, and manage risks associated with mobile plant and equipment (MPE) insurance portfolios. You will work closely with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored insurance solutions that meet our clients' needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate new and renewal submissions for mobile plant and equipment insurance, analysing risk exposures and determining appropriate terms, premiums, and coverage within the delegated authority granted from our capacity provider.
* Collaborate with brokers and clients to gather vital information and clarify requirements.
* Negotiate policy terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
* Prepare and present risk recommendations and referrals to the underwriting manager and capacity providers.
* Monitor and manage the performance of the CPE portfolio, identifying trends and opportunities for growth or improvement.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments, regulatory requirements, and market trends.
* Support claims and loss control teams with technical expertise as needed.
* Ensure strict compliance with statutory and FSRA requirements, industry and other codes of practice, Aon Group policies and all processes, underwriting guidelines.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
* A minimum of five (5) years + experience within the Mobile Plant & Equipment underwriting or engineering lines.
* Holding PS146 – Tier 1 and/or Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking or General Insurance) qualification.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
* Proficiency in underwriting software (ibais highly regarded) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work to deadlines with minimal direct supervision.
* A well-developed market presence at a profession level.
