About The Team
The Chief Information Officer Division is an exciting, fast-paced team that drives the digital agenda for the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. The group leads the department's digital agenda by partnering with our stakeholders to co-design digital experiences, making it simpler to innovate, collaborate and communicate, and continue to evolve digital services using leading edge technology and smart design.
The Digital Strategy and Cyber Security Branch sets the direction for the division making sure that our technology is cyber secure, strategically sound and meets our accessibility and user needs. The branch is composed of the following teams Cyber Security, CIO Business & Governance, Enterprise Architecture, Information Management, Digital Engagement & Experience, AI & Data Platforms, ICT Service Management and ICT Demand and Pipeline.
The Cyber Security Team is responsible for oversight and management of cyber security within the department. The team is made up of 4 streams including: Governance, Risk and Compliance, Security Operations Centre, Project Advisory and Assurance and Cyber Engagement.

What you will do
Duties Of The Position Include
* Lead the Project Assurance and Advisory Team, delivering security advice and ensuring compliance with government frameworks.
* Support the IT Security Advisor with cyber advice and risk assessments at both system and organisational levels.
* Manage and mentor junior staff, including task oversight, development support, and administrative approvals.
* Participate in IT governance and change forums, contributing to the review of solution designs and security controls.
* Review and provide specialist advice within regards to policy changes (for example WAF rules, DLP policy) to ensure compliance with data protection standards.
* Assist in security incident investigations and the development of response documentation.
* Collaborate with IT teams on secure configuration, patching, and vulnerability management.
* Contribute to the development of security procedures and technical documentation.
* Conduct (or oversee) penetration testing activities, including planning, execution, and reporting
* Stay informed on emerging threats and technologies related to penetration testing and data protection.
* Use ServiceNow to enhance and support the efficient delivery of cyber activities by managing inquiries, tracking workflows, and supporting informed decision-making.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
