About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Site SMP Engineer to join our client's Major Projects team for a construction project on remote Groote Eylandt. This vital role ensures the seamless delivery of scope packages through procurement, engineering, and site support, in addition to overseeing logistics at remote site locations. The vacancy is due to an exciting new project phase, with an initial contract duration of 12 months. This position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a significant infrastructure development, with competitive hourly rates on 8/6 roster.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide site-based engineering support within discipline, ensuring safety and compliance standards are met
* Support procurement and logistics, including vendor liaising, contract evaluation, and equipment delivery management
* Develop and oversee scope of works, tender documentation, and technical evaluations
* Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely RFIs, TQs, and equipment approvals
* Manage site instructions, non-compliance reports, and QA/QC documentation for quality assurance
* Coordinate commissioning activities, including review of vendor documentation and supporting operational readiness
* Advise on operational and maintenance strategies, including spare parts and training support
* Assist with project completions, including handover documentation, lessons learnt, and as-built drawings
* Maintain comprehensive registers and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and project governance standards
About You
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering and a current Australian driver's licence
* 5–8 years' experience as a Project Engineer, or 20+ years in trade construction engineering
* Proven expertise in procurement, logistics, and engineering support within remote or arduous environments
* Strong understanding of QA/QC practices and project budgeting processes
* Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively across all levels of the organisation
* Skilled in tender evaluation, contract management, and technical documentation
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote site conditions with a positive, adaptable attitude
* Advanced computer literacy and familiarity with business and project management software
