Key Tax Professional Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a company's Asia-Pacific tax function as a Senior Tax Manager.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and review corporate income tax returns, including workpapers for subsidiaries in Australia, New Zealand, and other Asia-Pacific countries.
* Manage external tax advisors to complete income tax returns for subsidiaries in various Asia-Pacific countries.
* Calculate current and deferred income taxes under local GAAP and US GAAP for subsidiaries across different Asia-Pacific countries.
* Manage indirect taxes for subsidiaries, preparing, reviewing, remitting, and filing relevant tax statements.
* Manage tax audits with the Australian Tax Office, New Zealand Inland Revenue, and other tax authorities in Asia.
* Work with the Global M&A Senior Tax Manager on pre-acquisition tax planning and due diligence for potential acquisitions in Australia and other Asia-Pacific countries.
* Review tax-related items in opening balance sheets and purchase price accounting calculations for acquisitions.
* Collaborate with the Global Tax and Treasury teams to repatriate cash using tax-efficient methods and ensure withholding tax requirements are met.
* Prepare and review transfer pricing calculations for subsidiaries, ensuring timely completion of reports and contemporaneous documentation with the assistance of external advisors.
* Complete ad hoc tax projects, including research, analysis, and written memos.
Qualifications for Success
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
* Chartered Accountant CA/CPA designation or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience in corporate income tax accounting and returns in Australia.
* Experience managing corporate income and indirect taxes for entities in Asia-Pacific countries.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working with Finance and Legal teams.
* Mergers and acquisitions tax planning and due diligence experience required.
* Cross-border tax experience, including applying for and obtaining double tax treaty relief.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Highly motivated and energetic individual with interest in entrepreneurship, software, and finance.
Location + Travel
The role is based in Melbourne, with the expectation of being in the office at least two days per week.
Travel may be required occasionally to regional operating companies or the global HQ in Toronto, Canada.
