The Information and Technologies division drives major ICT programs, supports statewide service delivery, and delivers modern, scalable technology solutions that impact thousands of staff across Queensland. Your new role
As a Senior Technical Specialist, you'll play a key role in delivering complex technical solutions within a major Human Capital Management transformation program. This hands‑on role involves architecting, developing and integrating secure, scalable systems across a large ecosystem of legacy, hybrid and cloud‑based HR, payroll, identity and operational platforms.
You'll lead Azure‑based technical delivery-including Logic Apps, Functions, APIM, Service Bus and other modern cloud components-while developing integration patterns, automation routines, API‑first designs and system‑to‑system data exchanges. Working alongside architects, platform leads, SAP consultants and assurance teams, you'll provide technical leadership across eight or more interconnected platforms.
You will also contribute to interface specifications, design documents, data mapping, CI/CD automation (Azure DevOps), Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform), monitoring, troubleshooting and governance activities, ensuring high‑performance, secure and compliant technical outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
* Extensive hands‑on experience designing, building and supporting complex integrations using Microsoft Azure tools and frameworks
* Strong capability in API design and delivery across hybrid cloud environments, including secure authentication (OAuth2, mTLS, Entra ID/Ping Federated)
* Proven experience with CI/CD automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code
* Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills across both legacy and modern platforms
* A solid understanding of information security and government compliance requirements
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence technical stakeholders
* Ability to lead end‑to‑end initiatives with minimal oversight
