About the role
Health Information Clerk to join our growing team on a part time (0.4EFT) fixed term basis until June 2027. The Health Information Clerk provides efficient, accurate and customer‐focused clerical, reception and records management support within the Health Information Unit (HIU) at LRH.
Responsibilities
* Provide reception and administrative support to the Health Information Unit, responding to telephone and information requests in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
* Accurately enter and manage patient information within HealthSmart iPM and Altera Electronic Medical Record, including allocation of Medical Record Numbers (MRNs).
* Create, scan, collate, file, store and retrieve medical records using terminal digital filing processes, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
* Retrieve medical records for wards, units, admissions, audits and medico‐legal requests, including accessing secondary archive storage when required.
* Assist with the retention and destruction of medical and departmental records in accordance with Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) guidelines and LRH policies.
* Contribute positively to the Health Information Unit through teamwork, training and orientation of new staff, participation in meetings, and continuous review and improvement of work practices.
About you
* High respect for confidentiality, privacy and legislative requirements relating to health records and information management.
* Competence using Microsoft Office and patient or client information systems, with strong data‐entry skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy environment, manage competing demands and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Strong organisational skills, excellent telephone manner and a responsive, customer‐focused approach.
* An administrative qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Health Administration), and experience with medical records, scanning, HealthSmart iPM or terminal digital filing (desirable).
