Position Summary
The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and operating efficiently.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Diagnostics and Fault Finding
* Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and tools
* Identifying issues in engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, braking, and electrical systems
* Interpreting diagnostic test results and determining appropriate repair solutions
Repair and Maintenance
* Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components
* Repairing or replacing worn or defective parts such as pistons, bearings, gaskets, brake systems, and clutches
* Performing scheduled servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing, and tune‐ups
* Conducting preventative maintenance to ensure long‐term vehicle performance
Testing and Quality Assurance
* Reassembling engines and mechanical components after repair
* Testing vehicles post-repair to ensure proper functionality and safety
* Adjusting repaired systems to meet manufacturer specifications
* Ensuring all work complies with Australian safety standards and workshop procedures
Use of Tools and Equipment
* Operating diagnostic scan tools, electronic testing devices, and workshop equipment
* Maintaining tools and ensuring equipment is used safely and effectively
Documentation and Compliance
* Recording details of repairs, parts used, and services performed
Customer Service and Team Collaboration
* Communicating technical issues clearly to supervisors or service advisors
* Providing accurate repair time estimates where required
* Working collaboratively with other technicians to ensure workflow efficiency
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 1 years of full‐time relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic
* Strong diagnostic and problem‐solving abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
Employment Conditions
* Full‐time position based in Truganina, VIC
* Salary of $80,000 per annum plus superannuation, consistent with market salary expectations
