About the Role
This challenging role involves leading and coordinating engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of upstream oil and gas projects across Santos assets.
The Project Engineer provides expert technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase through to execution and completion across sustaining capital projects.
Responsibilities include managing design interfaces, ensuring operational readiness, prioritising operability and safety, and developing close working relationships with external contractors and the Site Operations & Production team.
Key Accountabilities
* Interface with Cost Control and Project Scheduler to monitor and report project performance
* Manage day-to-day project elements including design and procurement
* Develop project schedules, budgets, and execution plans
* Participate in risk assessments and conceptual HAZOPs
* Manage project risk register through to the end of concept phase
* Review progress and provide summary reports to relevant managers
* Close high-visibility and high-risk actions arising from audits, risk assessments, and assurance reviews
Requirements
This role requires a candidate who demonstrates patience, maturity, and a high standard of personal conduct.
Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience are required attributes along with a strong alignment to company values.
A Tertiary qualification in Engineering is essential, along with extensive experience in Project Engineering and its application in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry.
Relevant experience sufficient to ensure a thorough understanding of technical, commercial, and managerial aspects of assigned projects is also required.
Project development ranging from option analysis through to handover and commissioning, management of contractor personnel, and experience offshore or delivering offshore projects ideally in remote locations or developing nations are preferred.
RPEQ and/or CPEng qualifications will be highly regarded.
