Statutory Planner (Full-time, 11-month fixed term contract)
This role undertakes the assessment of development applications in accordance with statutory timeframes whilst achieving well-balanced development outcomes and high-quality customer service. This role provides planning advice to applicants, members of the public and Council. The Statutory Planner represents Council at Assessment Panel meetings.
The role reports to the Team Leader Statutory Planning.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning in a Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) Accredited Course and expertise working as a Planner in development assessment within local government.
* Full membership of the PIA (or be eligible to obtain).
* A detailed understanding of the Development Assessment process to be able to process and assess development applications within prescribed timeframes pursuant to the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, and Council's policies and procedures.
* A thorough working knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017, the Local Government Act 1999, Environment Protection Act 1993 and their interaction with other relevant legislation, regulations and codes.
* Demonstrated experience in working with the Development Assessment Portal, the South Australian Planning and Design Code and Geographic Information Systems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships.
* Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a range of digital tools and technologies.
