Senior Planning & Development Leader
Attractive opportunity to shape sustainable development and land use in a growing regional area. We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning & Development Leader to join our team.
As a key member of our planning team, you will provide strategic and statutory planning expertise to support integrated, sustainable development outcomes. Your role will involve leading a team of planners, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and delivering high-quality planning solutions across the municipality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing complex planning applications, scheme amendments, and development projects.
* Providing expert planning advice to staff, management, stakeholders, and the community.
* Representing the organisation at hearings, panels, and relevant forums.
* Leading strategic planning initiatives to guide sustainable growth and land use policy.
* Managing, mentoring, and developing a team of planning professionals.
* Ensuring compliance with planning legislation, regulations, and organisational policies.
* Coordinating public consultation programs and fostering strong community engagement.
Requirements:
* Degree in Planning or related field, with 3-5 years' experience in a senior planning role (Local Government experience highly desirable).
* Expert understanding of the Victorian planning system, statutory planning processes, and planning policy development.
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyse complex situations, and develop creative solutions.
* Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate staff.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proven ability to deliver outcomes within tight timelines and manage competing priorities.
