The Role
The Payroll Officer sits within our People Services Department and is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee weekly payroll in accordance with relevant legislation, company policies, and award conditions. This role plays a critical part in maintaining employee trust and financial compliance by managing payroll operations efficiently and confidentially. You are essential to maintaining employee satisfaction and our organisational integrity.
This role can be located in Sydney, Melbourne, or Leeton NSW .
Your responsibilities include weekly complex payroll calculations and transactions, together with providing support and guidance to leaders and the People & Culture representatives.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
* Payroll Processing
o Responsible for the interpretation and actioning of all payroll queries, including transactional queries related to Individual Contracts, Awards, EBA and in-country legislations
o Process end to end payroll for all employees including wages, allowances, deductions and superannuation
o Ensure compliance with taxation, Fair Work regulations, and other statutory requirements
o Processing of accurate data into SAP
* Onboarding
o Arrange for the delivery of employment packs to new hires
o Capture required information into SAP for all new hires
o Ensure Rapid Induct is coordinated and delivered prior to new hire commencing
o Being the point of call for all queries related to Payroll processes, policies and systems
* Staff Leaving
o Process and completion of termination processes and payments
* HRIS
o Ensure HRIS requests are accurately captured and completed
o Support the team with system upgrades, and implementation of system project work
o Mentor colleagues, P&C Team and Leaders and ensure appropriate knowledge transfer of transactional duties.
About You
You will have:
* Minimum 2-3 years previous Australian experience in weekly payroll processing, preferably within a medium to large organisation with sites across various States (QLD, NSW, VIC)
* Full working rights in Australia
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreement
* Experience across MS Office Suite including Advanced level in Excel
* Experience working with SAP and UKG Time and Attendance
* High attention to detail and confidentiality
* Enjoys a process driven environment
* Clear and confident communication and problem-solving skills
* Be customer service focussed and able to work to deadlines
* Have a continuous improvement mindset
* Be collaborative with team and stakeholders as well as able to work autonomously
