Capral is Australia's largest extruder and a leading distributor of aluminium products. With around 1,000 employees spread across the nation in manufacturing plants, distribution centres, and offices, we offer great variety and room for movement.
**Positions Available & Location**
We are currently looking for experienced aluminium extrusion press operators to join our team in Smithfield, New South Wales.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Conduct pre-shift checks to equipment and extrusion schedule.
- Identify the section and set all extrusion parameters correctly.
- Operate all press functions (log feeder, log furnace, log shear, billet loader, quench, pullers) manually.
- Operate machinery to achieve high efficiency in recovery, speed, and contact utilisation.
- Inspect regularly to ensure quality of the material produced is consistent.
- Ensure ALL production order details are adhered to including alloy, section, temper, properties and quantity.
- Conform to die test procedures making samples available for inspection.
- Ensure company objectives such as process optimisation, manufacturing cost, delivery performance and recovery are maintained within organisational goals.
- Record SAP transactions.
- Any other tasks as required.
**Essential Criteria**
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience operating aluminium extrusion presses.
- In-depth knowledge of metal and other material properties.
- Attention to detail with an ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and instructions.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Stable employment history (within the aluminium extrusion industry)
- Must be reliable with an exceptional attitude towards safety and teamwork.
- Ability to live and work in Australia - relevant to New Zealand residents etc.
