Job Summary
This role involves providing expert legal counsel to internal staff on a range of matters, including research, analysis, and opinion writing. The Senior Corporate Counsel works under supervision, meeting performance requirements, deadlines, and standards established for individual assignments.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice to internal Bank staff on legal matters within areas of specialization.
* Analyze, edit, and draft contracts and other agreements as assigned.
* Anticipate legal issues and identify solutions to mitigate risks.
* Research, perform legal analysis, and write memoranda on issues affecting the Bank in its banking and corporate capacities.
* Stay current with laws, statutes, and regulations affecting the Bank.
* Represent the Bank in working groups, hearings, and management committees to ensure effective representation.
* Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain safe operations.
* Communicate complex legal information effectively.
Required Qualifications
* Law Degree with a license to practice law.
* At least 5 years of experience in a law firm or corporate environment.
* Experience working with regulatory agencies.
* Complex legal matter handling skills.
* Working knowledge of banking, commercial transactions, vendor/third-party agreements, general corporate principles.
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
* Routine level of management oversight required.
* Understanding of regulated industries.
