Role Overview
This is a dynamic role that plays a vital part in helping people with disabilities thrive by supporting them to achieve their goals outside of their everyday routine.
As a Community Support Officer, you will encourage our customers to engage with their community in any way they choose, empowering them to build independent skills.
About the Role
The primary objective of this position is to provide active support focusing on maximising engagement and participation in the customer's daily life. This includes:
* Providing support to customers in a varied range of social activities such as going out for lunch/coffee, grocery shopping, classes, movies, or appointments (including hydrotherapy and swimming)
* Promoting participation and social connection with customer's family and friends, with a focus on maximising engagement and advocating for our customers
* Supporting customers with their daily living needs, such as personal care, domestic tasks, meal planning and personal administration (e.g. shopping, banking, paying bills)
You will also be responsible for writing reports, shift notes, travel records and incident reports. Confidence driving wheelchair accessible vans (e.g. Toyota Hiace) is an essential requirement.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess adaptable communication skills and a strong focus on person-centred care. A Certificate III or IV in a caring discipline is highly desirable. Additionally, you must be willing to work in different locations and change locations on short notice within a defined radius.
You will also need to obtain a National Police Clearance no older than 6 months, Current Driver's Licence, NDIS Worker's Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening check, Current First Aid Training Certificate (HLTAID011 minimum), COVID-19 Vaccination (min. 2 doses).
Availability Requirements
We require a commitment of minimum 3 days per week. The majority of shifts are during weekdays, between Monday-Friday, in specific time frames including morning and afternoon shifts.
