The Opportunity A large, internationally operating organisation is seeking a Risk & Controls Associate to join its APAC risk function. This role sits within the second line of defence, providing independent testing and challenge across AML and broader risk controls. The position offers hands-on involvement in assessing how controls are designed, executed, and remediated, with exposure across multiple business areas and jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities Independently review and test risk and AML controls in line with a global risk and control framework Provide second-line challenge to first-line risk assessments and control execution Assess both control design and operating effectiveness through walkthroughs, re-performance, interviews, and investigations Form independent conclusions on control effectiveness and clearly document outcomes Ensure control documentation meets internal standards and is audit-ready Gather, validate, and assess supporting evidence, including sample selection and segregation of duties checks Communicate findings to control owners and agree remediation actions and timelines Track, document, and verify remediation and closure of findings Upload testing results and supporting evidence to internal risk systems within required timeframes Support improvements to control design where gaps or weaknesses are identified Engage with internal stakeholders and auditors as required Key Requirements Must have a background in risk, compliance, audit, or control testing within a regulated environment Experience operating in, or closely with, a second line of defence function Exposure to independent control testing, audit, or assurance activities Strong understanding of control frameworks, audit processes, and evidence standards Ability to assess both control design and operating effectiveness Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail Confident communicator, able to provide constructive challenge to stakeholders Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment What This Role Offers A genuine second-line role with independence and professional judgement Exposure to regional risk activities and cross-functional stakeholders A balance of structured testing and consultative engagement Flexible working arrangements within a professional, collaborative environment Ongoing development and the opportunity to deepen expertise in risk and controls This is a hybrid position By clicking 'apply', you give your express consent that Robert Half may use your personal information to process your job application and to contact you from time to time for future employment opportunities.
