Job Overview
This role is responsible for delivering a range of services to support the Defence Force's live-fire training operations.
The successful candidate will provide critical support in ensuring the safe use of live-fire ranges, undertaking bush firefighting activities, and maintaining and operating range equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking first response bush firefighting activities as part of an integrated team effort.
* Maintaining and operating range live fire target equipment, including power tools and chainsaws.
* Ensuring adherence to range standing orders and reporting breaches to the relevant authority.
* Performing land management tasks such as grass cutting, weed spraying, and mapping to maintain a safe and effective operational environment.
* Assisting with Health and Safety site inspections, job analysis, and safety observations to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office. Additionally, they should have experience working with radio communication systems and navigating using maps and compasses.
Manual car driver's license and heavy vehicle licenses (Medium Rigid and/or Heavy Rigid) are also essential requirements.
Firefighting Qualifications
The following certifications are required:
* PUATEA001B - Work in a Team
* PUAFIR215 - Prevent Injury
* PUAFIR204B - Respond to Wildfire
* PUAOPE013A - Operate Communication Systems and Equipment
