We are seeking a suitably qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Registered Nurse enrolled in a Nurse Practitioner Masters program (Transitional Nurse Practitioner) to join our dedicated Cardiac Inpatient Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. In this pivotal role, you will work alongside the Heart Centre for Children team, collaborating closely with an experienced and passionate multidisciplinary cardiac specialty workforce. Together, you will deliver exceptional, child and family-centred care to some of our most vulnerable patients - including those requiring advanced heart failure, transplant, and VAD support. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work both autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced clinical capacity, providing innovative and flexible healthcare that enhances and complements our existing services. Your Scope of Practice will be guided by service needs, policy frameworks, and regular review in partnership with nursing and service leadership.

Key Responsibilities: Your advanced practice will include (but is not limited to):

* Comprehensive health assessments
* Initiation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations
* Formulation of clinical diagnoses
* Prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
* Coordinating care and referring to medical specialists and extended health teams

* Current Authority to practice as a Registered Nurse and with endorsement to practice as a Nurse Practitioner through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority AHPRA or Currently Enrolled in an approved Nurse Practitioner Masters Nursing Degree working towards endorsement.
* Evidence of existing advanced practice skills and currency of practice
* Demonstrated ability to articulate sound reasoning behind clinical, diagnostic and prescribing decisions that are informed by evidence based practice and made within a nursing context.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
* Demonstrated skills in the delivery of clinical education and support
* Evidence of quality and/or research activities
* Ability to contribute to clinical service planning relevant to scope
