Defence Mechanical Design Engineer Job Opportunity
Seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support high-impact projects in the defence and advanced communications sectors.
About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop practical and cost-effective mechanical solutions for complex systems.
2. Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and version control.
3. Execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on user and manufacturing feedback.
4. Review and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
5. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise designs for manufacture and deployment.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or a related engineering discipline.
* 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, ideally within a regulated or defence-related environment.
* Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor), FEA, and drafting to AS1100 standards.
* Experience designing enclosures and mechanical assemblies (e.g. sheet metal, racks).
* Good understanding of manufacturing processes and familiarity with basic electrical/electronic integration.
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work.
* Australian citizenship required due to project security requirements.
* Eligible for or currently holding Baseline Security Clearance.
* Eligible for RPEQ or NER registration preferred.
* Experience working in maritime or defence-related environments is an advantage.
