Cootamundra High School is a rural comprehensive high school with a student population of 200, with 13% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The school proudly sits on four hectares of Gudhamangdhuray Wiradjuri land.

We work in partnership with all stakeholders to seek high quality educational outcomes for all students. The school is fully staffed and is comprised of a broad range of teachers at various career stages.

As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school our core values are respect, responsibility and excellence. Our school mantra is 'Teachers Teach, Students Learn and Be Kind'. Our Learning Hub includes two stage based multi-categorical classes that provide targeted integration support for students into mainstream classrooms.

Our Enrichment Studio provides structured teacher support for all students, with a sensory gym and mindfulness space complementing this hub. The Resilience Project (TRP) modelling gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional intelligence is positively influencing our student's behaviour, attitudes and actions.

The Wellbeing team complements the Learning Hub enabling students to connect, succeed and thrive. Students have access to a range of high-quality facilities and multiple partnerships enable us to provide a broad curriculum offering.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Proven ability to lead curriculum monitoring and assessment practices, to build capacity of staff, to ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for all students.
- Expertise in leading the implementation, evaluation and improvement of curriculum that foster a culture of high expectations, engagement, and equity for a diverse range of students.
- Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain collaborative professional relationships within the faculty and across the school, fostering a culture of teamwork, trust, and shared responsibility.
- Experience in driving whole-school initiatives that builds the capacity of staff to improve student outcomes, wellbeing, and engagement.

General Selection Criteria

- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
