Davis Welding and Fabrication is seeking an Experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team in a senior capacity servicing our commercial clients. This is a position for a leader who values quality workmanship, thrives on variety, and wants to support our team in delivering excellence to our clients.
About the Role Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this hands-on role offers a mix of workshop fabrication and onsite installation/repairs. You will be working with light sheet metal through to medium thickness plate, utilizing Stainless Steel, Aluminium, and Mild/Galvanized steel.
Your scope of work will include:
* High-precision fabrication: Specializing in stainless steel fabrication, including projects within food processing facilities and abattoirs.
* Versatile welding: Competent execution of MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
* Machinery operation: Using guillotines, press brake, drills, and punches to manufacture components.
* Leadership: Providing technical guidance to the team and managing projects on-site.
* Client Relations: Acting as the face of the company onsite, ensuring professional communication and high service standards.
* Weekend Work: Some weekend work is an expectation with the potential for regular overtime available.
Who We Are Looking For You are a reliable, proactive problem solver with a "can-do" attitude. You can follow plans; manage your workflow, uphold safety standards, and take pride in high-quality workmanship.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Trade Qualification: Must hold a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade Sheet metal) or equivalent.
* Experience: Minimum 5+ years in sheet metal fabrication and welding.
* Mandatory Vaccination: Must hold current Q-Fever vaccination (or be willing to obtain immediately) for site work in abattoirs.
* Technical Skills: High-level competency in Sheet Metal and general fabrication; ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Safety Tickets: Construction Induction (White Card) is essential.
* Drivers Licence: Current C Class licence required
* Physical Fitness: This is a physically demanding role involving manual handling, working in and around existing equipment, and working at heights.
* Non-Smoker: As per our company policy and site requirements.
Highly Regarded (Desirable)
* Forklift Licence.
* EWP Licence.
