Job Opportunity: Gardening Assistant
About the role:
St Vincent's Care Services is seeking a skilled Gardening Assistant to support and tend to our beautiful gardens at SVCS Heathcote. This is a great opportunity to maintain the grounds and connect with residents of the independent living units.
The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of gardening - pruning, planting, cultivating, and maintaining garden beds and lawns. Other duties include weeding, spraying, and propagating plants. The ideal applicant will also have excellent customer service skills, be able to prioritize their schedule, and work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and tend to gardens at SVCS Heathcote
* Maintain garden beds and lawns, including pruning, planting, and cultivating
* Weed, spray, and propagate plants as needed
* Clean and maintain village grounds, courtyards, paths, ramps, and rotundas
* Perform general maintenance tasks as required
Requirements:
* Experience working in horticulture or a related field
* Sound knowledge of gardening principles and practices
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to lift 20kg and perform physical tasks for extended periods
