**About the role**
Working in the Special Care Nursery in this unique duel role of Ward Clerk and Ward Assistant, applicants must be a team player, who is empathetic and believes in a holistic approach with quality patient focused service. Excellent clerical, communication and time management skills are essential. Contributes to the operational functioning of the unit and provides an efficient and effective support service to the team. Ensures a safe a clean environment is maintained, reporting any potential hazards within the department.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Performs all cleaning tasks according to the cleaning schedule for the department including cleaning of any equipment particular to Special Care Nursery, as requested by managers
- Porters patients as required
- Will assist nursing staff where required with safe manual handling of patients
- Attends to removal and disposal of waste, linen and sharps containers in accordance with Grampians Health standards and Procedures
- Delivers and collects files and mail as directed
- Performs tasks within appropriate timeframes
- Restocks stores
- Monitors supply stores
- Orders supplies and equipment for Special Care Nursery (will have a $0 financial delegation and all ordering will go through NUM for approval)
