More About The Legal Counsel Role At Mable

We’re powered by purpose

Mable is an online platform connecting Australians looking for disability and aged care support to independent support workers. Since 2014, we’ve been helping our community live their kind of independence, and today we’re one of Australia's largest and fastest growing healthtech platforms.

We have been recognised in AFR’s Fast 100 list, Deloitte’s Tech Fast 50, and won the Australian Growth & Australian Technology Growth Company of the Year Award in 2020! So don’t miss your opportunity to join a thriving scale-up and deliver change to Australia’s care and support sector.

This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic and pragmatic commercial lawyer 2+ PQE to join a legal team in a scaling business. You will thrive in a varied role where you will work as part of a small team, collaborating with business functions to address legal and regulatory issues and provide solutions.

You will work under the Head of Legal yet have autonomy to advise on a wide range of matters, influencing the delivery of Mable’s strategic objectives. Working in a profit-for-purpose technology company means you will be able to make a meaningful and positive impact with your legal skills whilst utilising your commercial and innovative mindset.

Key accountabilities

Provide commercially oriented advice and support to the business on a wide range of legal issues including IP, marketing, regulatory compliance, employment, privacy and data protection

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks for Mable products and services

Monitor legal and regulatory compliance for all areas that may impact Mable’s operations

Assist the business with projects to improve products and services

Contribute to an innovative culture with your legal expertise and initiative and assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies and initiatives

Embrace a role that offers constant variety and the chance to tackle new challenges head-on. No two days are the same!

Skills And Experience

A Bachelor of Laws degree, a current Legal Practising Certificate and 2-5 (PQE) years of experience from a law firm or an inhouse team, with a solid foundation in corporate commercial law.

Strong knowledge of Australian contract law and commercial principles

Strong commercial acumen and business partnership skills

Skilled at managing competing priorities within a diverse workload and a collaborative attitude essential to working in a small team in a shared services model (industry experience in a start-up or technology company is a plus but not a prerequisite).

Attention to detail and a high-level of accuracy

Ability to interact with management levels of a business and build relationships with key stakeholders

Commercial and strategic mindset, with the capacity to provide legal advice that aligns with business objectives

Capacity to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment

Clear and confident communicator who values plain English and is able to summarise legal concepts into practical steps
