About the Position
As a Disability Support Worker, you will be working in community settings, homes, and justice-linked environments, providing support to clients who may be transitioning from custodial or forensic settings, on community-based orders, at risk of reoffending, or requiring structured routines, behavioural strategies, and high levels of supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Justice & Forensic Support
* Support clients with justice or correctional involvement by adhering to behavioural plans, risk management strategies, and supervision requirements.
* Promote community participation while maintaining safety for clients, staff, and the public.
* Assist clients to meet the expectations of court orders, probation orders, or behaviour management plans (as applicable to disability support).
* Maintain professional boundaries and clear, factual documentation needed for justice-linked reporting.
* Work collaboratively with justice system partners, behaviour support practitioners, and allied health professionals.
Complex Behaviour Support
* Provide assistance with daily living, personal care, manual handling, and medication (if endorsed).
* Implement behaviour support strategies and respond safely to behaviours of concern.
* Support clients to maintain routines, skill development, and independence.
General Responsibilities:
* Build trust and rapport using calm, respectful, trauma-informed communication.
* Adapt quickly to changing environments and support needs.
* Work confidently in both independent and team-based settings.
* Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, and client documentation.
