We are looking for a Maintenance Officer to join our friendly team at Cypress Gardens Retirement Community. This permanent part-time role (2 days per week) would suit someone semi-retired or seeking work-life balance while still putting their skills to good use.

About the Role
Hours offered: 30hrs per fortnight – two days per week 8:00am – 4:00pm Part-time.
As our Maintenance Officer, you will take pride in ensuring our beautiful retirement community is maintained to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out and overseeing general maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative upkeep across the village
- Co-ordinating trades and contractors
- Maintaining gardens, lawns, and common areas so they’re always looking their best
- Ensuring equipment, facilities, and the swimming pool are safe and well maintained
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules, resident maintenance expenses, maintain basic stock, report issues and solutions to the Village Manager.
- Adhere to Work, Health & Safety requirements, conduct workplace safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard reporting.
- Driving the village bus for resident weekly shopping trips and activities as needed.
- Liaising with the Village Manager and residents to ensure maintenance needs are met promptly and professionally.
We’re looking for a candidate who demonstrates:
- A practical, can-do attitude and genuine care for your work and the people around you.
- A handyperson background or broad maintenance experience (building, handyperson, or similar).
- A knack for problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Experience co-ordinating contractors.
- A friendly, respectful approach when working around older residents.
- Must hold a medium rigid license at minimum for the resident bus excursions and weekly shopping transport.
- Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).
Remuneration is set according to Level 5 of the Aged Care Award $29.94/hr.

A satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate is required as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and be willing to undertake a pre-employment functionality assessment in alignment with the role’s physical demands.
