The Role

As a Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist, you will:
* Provide high-quality, evidence-based obstetrics and gynaecology care across inpatient, outpatient, theatre, and on-call duties.
* Perform advanced procedures, including laparoscopic and vaginal reconstructive surgery, and complex obstetric management.
* Contribute to clinical governance, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
* Lead, mentor, and teach Doctors in Training, and medical students.
* Engage in service planning, outreach, and private practice opportunities (where applicable).
Essential Requirements:
* AHPRA Specialist registration or Eligibility
* Be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), or an overseas-trained specialist with equivalent qualifications (UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or New Zealand)
Desirable:
* Experience in a teaching hospital or regional health service.
* Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive quality improvement initiatives.
* Active involvement in academic teaching and clinical supervision.
Expedited Pathway
Good news for UK & Irish specialists – the Medical Board of Australia has introduced an expedited pathway to specialist registration in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (no college assessment required) for doctors with:
* MRCOG (2007 onward) plus UK CCT, or
* MRCPI (2010 onward) plus CSCST (Ireland)
