The role
We are seeking applications from experienced teachers to join our Science faculty, full time, on an ongoing basis. Commencing in January 2026, you will be responsible for using evidence-based teaching strategies to deliver a curriculum that engages and challenges each student in line with the School’s effective learner model.
Responsibilities
- Teach Science to Year 7–12.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management to maximise learning opportunities.
- Apply principles of the science of learning and use knowledge-based curricula that encourage innovation.
- Deliver instruction using evidence-informed strategies based on Barak Rosenshine, Doug Lemov, John Hattie and Jim Knight.
- Use explicit instruction techniques with frequent formative assessment to monitor student understanding.
- Incorporate research findings relevant to student learning and education.
- Engage in continuous improvement and self-reflection as a teacher.
- Collaborate with colleagues in planning, implementing and reviewing curriculum through shared resources.
- Establish and foster relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Be actively involved in the cultural, pastoral and co-curricular activities of the School.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching Science at a Year 7–12 level.
- Solid classroom management and learner engagement skills.
- Understanding of the principles of the science of learning.
- Experience delivering a knowledge-based curriculum that supports innovation.
- Experience using evidence-informed teaching strategies from educational researchers.
- Commitment to explicit instruction and ongoing assessment of student understanding.
- Knowledge of research findings relevant to student learning.
- Desire for continuous improvement and self-reflection.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design and resource sharing.
- Ability to establish relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Willingness to participate in cultural, pastoral and co-curricular activities.
