Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Aviation Support Workshop Manager to lead the operational management of our Components & Avionics business in Cairns. This role oversees multiple workshop functions—including repair and overhaul programs—and ensures excellence in customer and OEM/partner relationships.

You'll be responsible for managing the P&L, driving continuous improvement initiatives, leading a team of skilled technicians and support staff, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory and company standards.

This is a leadership role with real impact. You'll report directly to the Senior Director and play a vital part in the delivery of quality aviation services and customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities

Leadership & Operational Management

* Manage day-to-day operations across all support workshops: Avionics, NDT, Composites, and Paint.
* Lead and support workshop teams, fostering a culture of safety, engagement, and performance.
* Provide strategic direction aligned with financial and compliance objectives.
* Prepare and manage annual budgets; take accountability for business P&L and financial targets.
* Ensure clear and timely communication with the Senior Director on all operational matters.

Customer & Compliance Focus

* Ensure operations meet all CASA Part 145, OEM, and internal regulatory requirements.
* Maintain strong, positive relationships with customers and industry partners.
* Ensure job documentation, invoicing, and quotations are accurate and align with business pricing and customer expectations.
* Oversee planning schedules and labour allocation to meet project timelines and budgets.

People & Performance Management

* Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management for workshop staff.
* Manage employee behaviour, development, and training requirements.
* Promote a culture of high performance and accountability.

Continuous Improvement & Quality

* Drive continuous improvement across all workshop processes and procedures.
* Ensure timely ordering of materials and inventory management to meet deadlines.
* Participate in and lead responses to internal and external audits.
* Review project performance metrics and proactively mitigate overruns or inefficiencies.

Essential Criteria

* Experience in managing aviation MRO workshop operations (preferably in Components & Avionics).
* Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
* Proven ability to manage budgets and meet financial targets.
* In-depth understanding of aircraft systems and workshop disciplines (Avionics, Components, NDT, Composites, Paint).
* Strong knowledge of CASA, Part 145 and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
* High attention to detail, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
* Full working rights in Australia.

Desirable

* Minimum 5 years in a similar leadership role within aviation maintenance or MRO.
* Commercial or technical qualifications in aviation maintenance or engineering.
* Understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
