As a
Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll be a key player in the Engineering team, guiding multidisciplinary delivery from concept and design through to commissioning. You’ll lead the development of electrical studies and technical documentation, meeting compliance requirements, providing construction, commissioning and Operations support.
What You’ll Do
Perform engineering duties across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to commissioning, including engineering studies and reports, equipment specification and selection, and preparation of detailed SLD with ratings & protection.
Develop and coordinate HV submissions to the Department of Mines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare load flow and short circuit studies and reports, develop protection philosophies (including relay configuration/programming), review and produce HV/LV switchgear documentation (schematics, termination drawings and SLDs), and develop earthing (415 V, 11 kV and 33 kV) and arc flash studies (incident energy and PPE selection), using tools such as SafeGrid and ARGON (or similar).
Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation, and participate in formal design reviews, including Safety in Design, HAZOP, CHAZOP, HAZID, CRAW, and client reviews.
Coordinate with commissioning teams on ITRs, ITPs, FAT, and SAT, and provide site‑based engineering support, including relay programming and functional testing where required.
Provide engineering support to operations teams during power station outages, including the development of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports to support investigations.
Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and key stakeholders
Ensure compliance with project quality, safety, budget, and schedule requirements, while actively resolving technical issues and driving continuous improvement.
Apply relevant Australian Standards, Mines Regulations, and statutory requirements, including familiarity with AS 3000, AS 2067, AS 1768, AS 2081, AS 3010, AS 5368, IEEE 1584, IEEE Std 80, and applicable WHS regulations.
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline).
Extensive experience in thermal power generation and integration with renewable equipment (BESS and solar integration highly desirable).
Proven ability to manage technical requirements, engineering inputs, and engineering risk within projects.
RPQ or CPEng accreditation (highly desirable).
Growth mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to adapt to change.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks to meet deadlines.
Resilient and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage workload and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
Committed to supporting, mentoring, and developing junior engineers.
