Job Opportunity:
* Represent the Council in matters related to insurance claims and proposals.
* Prepare and coordinate annual insurance renewal proposals for the placement of all classes of insurances held by the Council.
* Manage fringe benefits tax liability and identify strategic opportunities for improvement.
* Oversee financial services functions and provide support and training as needed.
* Maintain an investment register and assess opportunities to maximize return on investment.
* Manage day-to-day banking transfers, liaising with banks and resolving payment disputes.
* Perform treasury management functions between bank accounts.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting or a relevant field.
* Or three (3) years or more experience in a suitable accounting position.
* Demonstrated technical expertise and at least three (3) years' experience in financial processes for tax, insurance and treasury, including local government legislative requirements.
* Significant experience in a similar role within a medium to large size Council.
* Proficient in Technology One, Civica and MyData software.
* Desirable: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and detailed knowledge of FBT and other tax laws and practices.
