Access to Learning (AEL) Program - Key Facilitation Worker

The Key Facilitation Worker plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable children to access and thrive in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services across the City of Melbourne. Working within the Family and Children's Services Team, this role delivers the Access to Early Learning (AEL) programme, funded by the Department of Education, and contributes to strengthened outcomes for children, families, and ECEC providers.

Your work will help ensure every child can participate in high-quality early education, building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.


A little more about the role

Support the inclusion and sustained participation of eligible vulnerable children in Early Childhood Education and Care services.

Build strong partnerships with ECEC providers, community agencies, families and internal stakeholders.

Deliver trauma‑informed, developmentally appropriate support that enhances child development and strengthens family engagement.

Provide mentoring, professional development opportunities and practice support to ECEC staff working with vulnerable families.

About you

You are an experienced Early Years Kindergarten Teacher with Family Support experience who is passionate about creating equitable access to education for vulnerable children. You bring a strong understanding of child development, trauma‑informed practice, and culturally safe engagement with families. You can confidently collaborate across agencies, mentor others and advocate for positive outcomes in Early Childhood Education and Care settings.


What your experience might look like – Key Selection Criteria

* Bachelor's or Master's qualification in Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten Teaching, Social Work or related field.
* Extensive experience in early years development, parenting support and working with vulnerable families.
* Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and family violence frameworks.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver programme aims, evaluate outcomes and maintain accurate reporting.
* Experience mentoring ECEC staff and supporting practice change.
* Ability to work flexibly, innovatively and collaboratively within an integrated team environment.
* Understanding of early learning needs and strategies to support sustained participation.
* Valid Working with Children Check and Police Check.
