Primary objective
Provide effective management of business processes for the Transition Support Unit (TSU), support unit staff with collection,
collation, input and management of data directly related to transition support for analysis and interpretation to inform
targeting of resources and ensure high quality reporting of current programs and support the development and maintenance
of collaborative partnership with stakeholders for effective engagement of boarding school related issues.
Context statement
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) provides evidence-based differentiated services and support to schools to maximise
outcomes for Territory children and young people. Our services encompass quality teaching and learning, national and
systemic assessment, transition to boarding school support and policy coordination. TLS also plays a strategic role in
implementing government priorities, offering expert advice to the Minister for Education and Training and the department’s
senior executives. We enhance our work by actively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure best outcomes
for all our clients.
The TSU is an initiative of the Department of Education and Training, responsible for the provision of support services for
very remote Indigenous students with educational options and transition to secondary school pathways. Transition Support
teams operate across the Territory to support students and parents with the transition to and pathway through secondary
schooling in urban and regional schools.

2. Support unit staff with collation of student data, interpretation and trend analysis to ensure informed targeting of

broader department.
3. Timely processing of itineraries, bookings, travel and personal documentation to enable the TSU engagement in
communities and to support boarding school students and families.
4. Research and assist with the preparation of high-level reports, both ad-hoc and planned as well as briefing notes,
evaluation notes and newsflashes.
