The Role
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our personal injury team on a full-time permanent basis at our Hope Island office on the Gold Coast.
This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone with at least five years’ experience in Queensland personal injury law who is confident managing files from intake through to resolution. You will work closely with Special Counsel, taking ownership of key aspects of personal injury matters (including motor vehicle accidents, workers compensation and public liability claims) and playing a critical role in achieving strong outcomes for our clients.
You will regularly liaise directly with clients, medical experts, barristers and insurers, and your professionalism, attention to detail and genuine care for clients will be central to your success in this role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with all aspects of Queensland personal injury including motor vehicle, workplace accidents and public liability claims
* Liaising with prospective and existing clients by phone and email with professionalism, empathy and excellent phone manner, ensuring a confident and supportive client experience from first contact through to resolution.
* Drafting a wide range of legal documents and correspondence, including schedules of damages
* Meeting with clients to obtain instructions and assist with statements and documentation
* Preparing medical chronologies, itemised schedules of medical expenses and evidence briefs
* Preparing WorkCover applications and supporting documentation
* Liaising with clients, medical practitioners, experts, insurers and counsel in a professional and empathetic manner
* Preparing briefs to Counsel and compiling supporting material
* Managing critical dates, court timetables and limitation periods
* Coordinating medico-legal appointments, compulsory conferences and mediations
* Assisting solicitors with trial preparation, including witness coordination and exhibit lists
* Attending court and assisting during trials where required
* Supporting general file management, document control and administrative tasks as needed
About You
You are someone who:
* Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Paralegal in Queensland personal injury law
* Is highly organised, proactive and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
* Communicates confidently, warmly and professionally with clients and colleagues
* Is comfortable managing sensitive client interactions with empathy and discretion
* Works well autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative, team-based environment
* Has strong time management skills and can effectively manage competing deadlines
* Has intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and confidence working with legal documentation
