Reporting directly to the Combat System Technical Program Manager, you will be customer‐facing and responsible for the recommendations and governance of new products into the Collins Class Submarine Combat Systems, ensuring that there is a seamless transition into service. As a proactive and collaborative engineer, you will engage directly with key stakeholders as you work to introduce new technology to Australia's Submarine fleet.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide engineering governance and support for planned subsystem configuration changes to the Collins Class Submarine Combat System.
* Ensure consistent configuration baseline management for the introduction of new products into the CS baseline to support seamless transition into service.
* Review and accept subsystem roadmaps, ensuring that proposed activities are completed within required timeframes.
* Lead subsystem working groups (SWG) to manage the risks and issues associated with the ongoing operations of the respective combat system subsystem and ensure subsystems remain safe, available and capable.
* Develop project briefs to articulate the engineering changes required to support the resolution of a DMD review; work with the CS architect to align with architectural direction.
* Assess proposed product changes by external CSSM enterprise partners and recommend to the customer on their suitability.
* Analyze the proposed combat system product change and provide recommendations for implementation and installation of the changes.
* Act as peer reviewer for all engineering gates when product changes impact the relevant subsystem.
* Provide product and simulator engineering support for relevant subsystem equipment installed at the Submarine Training Facility.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
* Degree qualified in relevant engineering disciplines with eligibility to hold Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) standing and a level of Design Authority delegation to support system design certification activities.
* Ideally 8 years' experience in systems engineering involving one or more of the following: requirements definition, requirements management, analysis, design, integration and verification.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels.
* Knowledge of project management milestones coupled with the ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision to deliver completed work according to scheduled commitments.
* Available to undertake travel where necessary to meet role requirements.
* Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level. Eligibility can be found at https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-suitability.
