SIL provides individuals with disabilities the support they need to live as independently as possible while receiving assistance from trained staff. This includes help with daily activities, personal care, and community participation, tailored to each person's needs.
About the role:
Our client is seeking a qualified Activities Coordinator to join their caring staff. You will develop and deliver meaningful leisure and recreational programs that promote clients' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing. This role supports clients to engage in activities that align with their abilities, preferences, and goals.
* Salary: A competitive salary is offered in the range of $75k to $85k plus superannuation per annum.
* Tenure: Full time and ongoing.
* Location: Traralgon VIC
Role responsibilities and orientation include
Program Development & Implementation
* Plan, design, coordinate and implement recreation and leisure-based activity programs
* Develop leisure activity programs for individuals in health care and community settings
* Organise and conduct outdoor and indoor activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, drama and music
* Adapt programs to suit individual clients' needs, interests, skills and abilities
Client Assessment & Care
* Evaluate and assess clients' levels of abilities, interests, needs, strengths and weaknesses
* Identify individual needs through task analysis
* Help individuals identify what they want and need from a lifestyle program
* Encourage and support clients to take part in activities suited to their particular needs and interests
Healthcare Collaboration
* Collaborate with health care professionals to plan or provide treatment
* Inform medical professionals regarding patient conditions and care
* Provide emotional support, comfort or encouragement to individuals, groups, or families
* Assist in the rehabilitation of clients through diversional therapy
Monitoring & Documentation
* Monitor patient or client outcomes, progress, or response to treatments
* Document and report on an individual's outcomes after they have participated in leisure activities
* Evaluate the success of leisure programs and adjust accordingly
* Collect, record, and securely store patient medical histories and information
Resource Management
* Maintain knowledge of resources available within a facility and within the community
* Use computers to plan and organise therapy schedules of clients
* Work with therapeutic materials including arts and craft materials, musical instruments, sports equipment
Client Populations
* Work with people in aged care, who have physical or intellectual disabilities, or mental illness
* Support people undergoing medical treatment or rehabilitation from injury or surgery
* Enhance psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals
To be successfully considered, candidates will be expected to possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Highly relevant Certificate IV or agreed substitute.
* At least one or more years of post-training professional experience in this field.
* Proven knowledge of the principles and practices of diversional therapy and the benefits of leisure and recreation for wellbeing.
* A current National Police Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check, and driver's license.
* Membership of appropriate professional bodies, or eligibility to apply.
* Experience in working with diverse client groups, such as older adults, people with disabilities, mental health issues, or chronic conditions.
* Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm in planning and delivering a variety of activities.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage time and resources effectively.
* Empathy, respect, and sensitivity towards the needs and rights of clients.
* Well-developed understanding of disability rights, advocacy, and legislation; and
* Working with Children Card & NDIS Screening Card, First Aid and or CPR certification
You must have unrestricted full time Australian working rights to be considered.
