The Opportunity
Our Digital Economy Transactions (TMT) Team is growing nationally and is looking for a bright Lawyer/Associate who is keen to join one of Australia's leading practices and work on the full range of technology, data and digital infrastructure matters.
The role will work closely with our Partners nationally and will have access to international matters with the broader Digital Economy Transactions team.
Nationally, our team advises on the full suite of technology matters including software and systems, internet legal issues, technology licensing, data, cyber, privacy, cloud computing, digital transformation and innovation, fintech, commercial contracts, procurements, complex projects and outsourcings, telecommunications, regulatory, and technology mergers, acquisitions and disposals.
Recent examples of our team's work include:
ANZ Bank: assisted during the due diligence and transaction phase, negotiating and settling the Transitional Services Agreement.
Confidential Clients: advising on major cybersecurity incidents including investigations by multiple agencies, advising on potential liability for breaches of law.
Confidential Bank: advising an APRA-regulated entity on amendments to its contracts for compliance with DORA, MAS and CPS 230.
This involved working as part of a global team with our colleagues in the United Kingdom and Singapore.

About You
A Bachelor of Laws, coupled with 4 years or more post-qualification experience in a technology, cyber security and privacy practice
Experience with the Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) Framework, Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and APRA CPS 230 regulatory advice is highly advantageous;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
A commercial approach and an ability to negotiate contracts;
Strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills;
A proactive, positive and energetic approach with a commitment to providing excellent service and a desire to interact with the market and build client relationships.
