Temporary Full Time - to 16 August 2026

Hervey Bay

Stream A Level 4 - $86,795 plus superannuation

* + 9-day fortnight

What we are looking for:

Join our Governance team in a dynamic rotational role with a core focus on supporting Council meetings. As Meeting Secretary, you'll prepare agendas, minutes and reports that keep Council decision-making running smoothly. Alongside this, you'll rotate through other key governance functions, including delegations, insurance, and elected member compliance - giving you variety, exposure, and the opportunity to grow your skills across the breadth of corporate governance.

We're looking for a detail-driven team player who thrives on collaboration, adapts quickly, and enjoys working on diverse tasks that make a real impact on good governance.

What your day will look like:

* Prepare agendas, minutes, and reports; ensure compliance with Council's procedures and act as minute secretary for Council meetings and other corporate meetings as required.
* Oversee insurance activities, including notifying insurers, managing claims, and ensuring timely payments.
* Maintain systems for councillor compliance, including the Register of Interests and Related Parties.
* Respond to customer requests from internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide advice to senior staff on report writing and resolution drafting for meetings and compliance matters.

What you'll need for success:

* Diploma (AQF level 5 or above) in Business, Administration or equivalent and/or equivalent experience in a corporate governance field.
* Experience in a local government setting.

What's nice to have:

* Extensive experience in governance matters including corporate reporting, delegations, meeting administration and secretarial duties.
* Demonstrable awareness/experience in policy management and risk management
