Senior IT Systems Administrator

About the Role
You'll be a key member of the Infrastructure team, responsible for administering, supporting, and enhancing a broad range of on‑premises and cloud technologies. The environment is diverse and modern, spanning enterprise storage, virtualisation, hybrid cloud, security platforms, and Microsoft 365 services.
This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, takes ownership, and brings deep technical expertise across multiple domains.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and support IT systems and network infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment.
* Administer hybrid infrastructure services across Microsoft, Linux, VMware vSphere, and enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, HPE).
* Maintain and enhance security technologies including NextGen firewalls, PKI, and application control.
* Support and optimise monitoring, analytics, and infrastructure tools such as Nagios XI, Azure Log Analytics, ClearPass, Ivanti App Control, and Ivanti Security Control.
* Administer databases (MS SQL, Azure SQL) and ensure robust backup and business continuity processes (Veeam, Azure Recovery Services Vault).
* Deploy, manage, and support cloud services including Microsoft Azure (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, Entra ID, Security & Compliance).
* Contribute to secure ICT operations aligned with government security frameworks and best practices.

You bring a strong blend of technical depth, problem‑solving ability, and a collaborative mindset. You're comfortable working across hybrid environments and have a track record of delivering reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure services.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Significant experience in IT systems and network administration within complex environments.
* Advanced capability across hybrid infrastructure, enterprise storage, Microsoft and Linux platforms, networking, and security technologies.
* Strong experience with VMware vSphere and hybrid cloud environments.
* Hands‑on experience with monitoring, analytics, endpoint security, patching, and backup technologies.
* Proven ability to administer and deploy Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services in hybrid environments.
Desirable
* Understanding of VPDSF, ISM, and secure handling of sensitive government information.
* Knowledge of ITIL processes.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications.
